Co., Everett, Wash Lines: 10 I have made oatmeal, malt-o-meal and other cereals in the microwave. In general the procedure is to add all ingredients at once, then put in the microwave to heat the water. However, I have found that the amount of water needs to be cut, simply because there is less evaporation loss with this method (as compared to the "boil-the-water-first-on-the-stove" method).
