I would like to make some points on this issue which I haven't seen expressed: 1) The argument that hunters eat their kill and that non-hunters are somewhow guilty of eating animals that someone else had to kill is at least pecular. I am a non-hunter, but I wouldn't eat any animal that I wouldn't be willing to kill for food (yes I can look Bambi in the eyes and shoot). I eat beaf regularly and would kill the cows if necessairy. 2) The worst problem with hunters is that they regularly bag game that should be out of bounds (cows, dogs, and people). The trigger happy hunter is not only in the comics, and most hunters don't (I take that back: many hunters don't) know which end of the gun to point. 3) A prime gripe of mine is that I own a fair strech of woodland and I like the fall. It would be nice to take a walk on my own land in the fall (I never have because I fear for my life). The laws here do not allow me to stop hunting on my land (and it doesn't constitute trespass). My proposed solution for all of the above is, instead of providing all of the public financed "game preserves", we should be providing "hunting preserves" where one can hunt at will. This way the hunters can have their fun and if they shoot someone, well it's only another hunter. Ray Holmes
