The only thing I can figure by what I've read is that: Non-hunter position: Hunters are only interested in killing Bambi. No thought is given by the hunter for how good that venison is going to taste. He only wants his 'killer' instinct satisfied. Hunter position: Hunters like the 'hunt', and usually do it with the food aspect in mind. I've been deer hunting once. Personally, I didn't like it. HOWEVER, I will be interested in working out a deal with any of you hunters out there that hunt only for the 'kill'! I'd probably be interested in your deer. You can't beat good venison steaks! Another observation: Those opposed to hunting appear to be mainly from 'urban' environments. It reminds me of a friend of mine from the University of Minnesota. For years, he was a vegetarian. His main reason (having grown up in St Paul) was that it was horribly inefficient to raise 'meat' animals. He was doing his part to curb the need for 'meat'. It was very interesting to see his change in attitute when he actually visited the areas where most 'meat' animals are grown. He basically said "What else can you do with that land? It isn't good for anything but grazing!" He is now carnivorous. -- Spoken: Larry Landis USnail: 5201 Sooner Trail NW Albuquerque, NM 87120 MaBell: (505)-898-9666 UUCP: {ucbvax, gatech, parsec}!unmvax!genix!ldl
