Well, I might as well throw in my two cents. The purpose of writing is for the author to convey his message to the reader. I believe that a polished, well-written article will do this better. This is not to say that the smallest spelling error destroys the value of the article. However, grievous errors in sentence construction (comma splices, etc.), confusion between its/it's and there/their/they're and other writing atrocities inevitably distract the reader and therefore obstruct the purpose of the article. But if you feel that your ideas aren't worth the effort to avoid these things, then by all means just bash it out any old way. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.
