PPS There was an amusing and enlightening article on grammar in
    the December issue of the Atlantic Monthly magazine.  I recommend it --
    it's not at all boring or dry, like uninspiring teachers might
    have made the subject for you in school.
    Try libraries, if you can't find it on the newstand; try me
    in desperation.
