I don't see why you should get upset. It's traditional and something which is becoming a lost art. Besides it keeps them busy. Sometimes they're even useful. So, whenever granny wants to cast a spell, let her. Hmmm? Oh. Never mind. Syntax aids semantics, and thus enhances communication. We have people who flame about both, and add pragmatic meaning at no extra cost to the reader. Me? I'd rather not have my thoughts imprisoned by strict adherence to the laws of standard grammar.
