They really are a legit social organization, and (at least the deputies
I've talked to) view the insurance as merely an outgrowth of their
more broad philosophy of helping others in need.

The reponse time on claims is usually moderately good, and often
you might recieve "extras" when you do have a claim.  Like
clothes and food when your house burns down.  Nice.

If I were thinking about joining, tho, I would just look
at the insurance.  I mean, there lots of organizations you
join for free, right?
