This is one reason I bought an Intellivision instead. (It has other problems though which I won't go into now.) For what little it's worth, I've found that a careful wiggle of the controller's plug can temporarily restore the missing function, *provided* that one is careful not to pull on the cord while playing. You may have a tendency (I do) to yank the controller around in imitation of the desired on-screen result. (NNNgggghh! RRRrr! ohNOOOOO!) Pulling on the cord is probably why it poops out in the first place. I don't know any reliable solution to the problem. Charles J. Poirier
