To make it useful, use a scroll of Remove Curse on it; then you can take it on and off as you like. In Rogue 3.6, there are clever dragons that wait for you to go into a blind alley and then block your way. (They don't attack you, they just block your only exit...) If you are not in the mood to fight a dragon with noplace to run, put on your ring, "wait" 5 to 50 times, and you will be someplace else. The same technique can be used to get around a leprechaun or nymph blocking a doorway, if there is no good way to attack them. If you are fleeing from a monster that is beating you, put on the ring, keep fleeing, and hope for the best... If you are in Umber hulk territory and don't feel strong enough to handle them, you can try adventuring with the ring on all the time. You get a chance of escaping any fight when you are weak (except, it seems, never when you really want too). This technique doesn't work too well, though, because it takes more time to explore the level, and meanwhile more monsters are created. - Keremath, care of: Robison decvax!ittvax!eosp1 or: allegra!eosp1
