Therefore, never leave a -- leprechaun standing; just walk up and attack (save arrows for numphs). -- Even if your gold is stolen, you get whatever the leprechaun might have -- been standing on, and it might be that two handed sword or slow monster -- staff you need to win. In 5.3 this is no longer correct, in my view - leprechauns can drop HUMUNGOUS amounts of gold. I just had one on level 9 drop 685 pieces, and 200-400 is not at all uncommon. Also, I usually don't run out of arrows/darts/shurikens etc., and saving them is pointless. Even in 5.2 I have always attacked Leprechauns with arrows and found it to work. And going up and down between 7 and 14 is so tedious as to be impossible - the L's only show up once in a while.
