A few years ago, Tony Hoare quoted E. Dijkstra to the effect that hardware
designers keep implementing the same old design in increasingly modern tech-
nology while software designers keep inplementing increasingly modern designs
in the same old technology.

Can anyone supply source, precise text, etc for either the Dijkstra original
or the Hoare quotation (or paraphrase).
