On a related topic, one of the most common mistakes by French students is
the mistranslation of the phrase "I'm hot". The literal translation: 
"J'ai chaud" means to be in heat as in animals. Whenever A girl in my class
made this mistake, the teacher gently reminded her that she would probably
be raped if she said that in France. The correct translation is "J'ai chaud"
which translated literally back into English is I have heat.
