Japanese words like 'isu kremu' are *not* examples of humorous bad
translations; they are examples of the adaptibility of the tongue. As
Japan enters the modern world, many such words are being adapted, just as
English has a tendency to take Latin and French words and terms. The
Japanese, in fact, have been very much more creative in this line than any
other group in the history of the world. Besides Romaji, they have three
other alphabets they work with daily: a giant subset of Chinese, plus
Kanji and Katakana.

typu writa    typewriter
