That extra verification is still in the ROM and slows down disk interaction according to a recent column in Micro-Cornucopia magazine. The monitor ROM from Micro-Cornucopia does not have the unnecessary verification steps and therefore will speed up a Kaypro. The 4 doesn't have a fan either so I guess there's the potential for heat problems there if you use it in a hot environment. I really like the silence that comes from not having a fan though. Kaypro has some sort of network out for all their machines now. Does anyone have experience with it? Also, they recently announced a new version for all three of their machines that includes an 8088 add-on with lots of extra memory, so the Kaypro's can run 16-bit code too. Bud -------
