Apparently this machine got past everyone; a fair amount of software is available plus samples are in the stores while very few people found out about it. Whether the supplies can keep up with the demand remains to be seen, but the specs seem impressive. Also note that there is never the mention of the Radio Shack name with this one, it is the Tandy 2000 all the way. Price (128K, 2 720K disk drives, monochrome monitor) $2999 (without monitor) $2750 (with 10 Meg hard disk instead of one drive) $4250 Clock Speed: 8 MHz (vs 4.7 for the IBM PC) True 16 bit data path 4 User Available expansion ports (2 IBM) Color Resolution (640 x 400) 8 colors Mono Resolution (640 x 400) supports graphics in monochrome Includes Display/Printer Adaptor, RS-232, MS-DOS 3.0 Intel 80186 processor. Object code compatible with 8086/8088. Two direct memory access channels. Three programmable timers. Software mentioned in brochure: PFS series (write, file, report, graph) Dbase II, Multiplan, Small Business Accounting, PASCAL, BASIC Compiler, FORTRAN and ASSEMBLER. Looks like a winner. Maybe the TRaSh reputation might go away. Nicholas Horton decvax!genrad!wjh!njh Harvard Arts and Sciences Computer Services
