If you don't have a service contract, and the SA 801R (ss/dd 8") floppy drive fails, Xerox charges $585 for a unit replacement repair. That is, you get a new drive, and they get to fix your old drive for maybe $100. So they have made almost $500. Now, I *know* that Xerox only pays less than $325 from Shugart for those drives.
