I am interested in buying a micro for scientific processing ( number
crunching on a large scale and possibly some graphics work ) and I
have a few questions for the micro gurus in the crowd.

1.  What is the best micro for scientific processing on the market
    ( price range of approx. $3000 or less ) ?

2.  Is it true that the 8087 or 68000 are the fastest processors
    on the market?
