In an article '16 bit Operating Systems Standards and MS-DOS' (which, btw, is an excellent overview of MS-DOS on a high level; for a low - level intro, I recommend the June 83 "Byte" article: "An Inside Look at MS-DOS"), the author claims that 3.0 MS-DOS is due for announcement in autumn 1983, and that it will show even greater similarities to Xenix, and will have such nifty features as multitasking, file - locking, and interprocess communication. Since autumn 1983 has come (and is almost gone), I am wondering if such announcement is indeed coming???? Any speculations, rumors, or heaven forbid, hard facts will be greatly appreciated.
