You need an Apple running CP/M (not necessarily but this is a good way) with disk drive and 80 cols. You need a serial card (I recommend the CCS 7710D) and a modem. Next you need software. ZTERM Professional is very good with a nice macro capability for about $120. However, MODEM7 has everything but the macros AND you get source code, plus batch transfers of files to another MODEM7. The latest version around that I have seen is MDM712.COM. There is an associated library called MDM712.LBR which contains the object code, documentation and a bunch of overlays for LOTS of different computers. This is a public domain program that is widely available on bulletin boards. There a couple of versions of UNIX programs that implement the XMODEM or Christensen protocols that modem7 uses. I have seen umodem and tmodem. Peter Harrison uccbvax!ucsfmis!harrison@BERKELEY
