It seems to have made it to about 1/4 of Usenet. The major parts of Usenet that are getting mod.all are Bell Labs in Indian Hill, Whippany, Murray Hill, plus most of New England and Canada. Backbone sites around hplabs, hao, we13, burl, and duke also get it. Missing from the response list are the areas around tektronix, uw-beaver, zehntel, sdcrdcf, sdcsvax, spanky, and all of Europe. In addition, large parts of the net were missing, including almost all of Silicon Valley, the North Carolina area, Bell Labs Holmdel, Western Electric and the BOC's, Purdue (except for pur-ee), Berkeley, parts near cca, ima, ittvax, neighbors of decvax, philabs, utcsrgv, and seismo, and most of Bell Labs in Piscataway. Unless there was some problem with sending mail back (I suspect this was the case at Purdue), these sites should double check with their neighbors to make sure mod.all is transmitted to the same places that net.all is. I got a few requests last time asking what mod.all is, apparently many of you missed it the first time around. mod.all is a class of newsgroups that is treated as moderated, just like net.announce, by the 2.10 netnews software. It will be used for additional moderated newsgroups. The newsgroup mod.ber has been created, and Brian Redman is posting summaries of other newsgroups to it. The summaries are for those of us who have had to unsubscribe to interesting newsgroups because we can't keep up with the volume, yet want to know if anything interesting happens. I'm going to post another newgroup for mod.ber, since the first one seems to have gotten lost. But this still won't do any good as long as mod.all isn't being transmitted. Please fix your sys files!
