Our very-prolific cat had a litter of kittens approximately 5 weeks before Christmas one year. At the time the tree went up the kittens were ready for some climbing lessons, so mama and 6 kittens headed straight for the little angel. And stayed. Until the tree reached an angle (horizontal) that was convenient for disembarking. Actually, try as I might, I could not stay angry at the sight of six tiny kittens dangling like ornaments from our tree. From that point on, our only problems have been low-hanging ornaments and convincing the cats that the tree skirt does not resemble kitty litter. Keeping a perfect tree is not as important to me as the enjoyment I get from watching animals and children alike playing with it, so I just make sure that all delicate and/or toxic ornaments are near the top.
