A theory due to Sarfatti:

In the far future, we, utilizing controlled quantum cross-correllations
and (more speculative) further techniques, cause tremendous, but tightly
controlled release of the zero-point energy of the vacuum at a far distant
spacelike interval (like about 15 billion years "ago") to create a universe
that is suitable for the evolution of intelligent life.

A theory due to me:

Quasars may be "protypes" or "tests" of this technique.

For background information on this, see the recent proceedings of the
second symposium on quantum gravity, especially Hawking's paper on the
inherent non-locality and a-causality of "everyday" physical phenomena.
