D. in physics from Berkeley in the late '60's or early '70's. (Before that he taught in Nigeria, and before that he went to the U. of Rochester.) Actually, his Ph.D. might be in astronomy or astrophysics; I'm not sure. But I'm hoping someone who reads net.physics might know him.
