It should probably be moved to another newsgroup, but there seems to be widespread opposition to the creation of net.origins, because it would somehow legitimize creationism as being a valid science. Well, since the creationists are arguing that evolution is really a pseudoscience, and vice versa, why not create a newsgroup net.skeptics (net.pseudoscience? net.phil-sci?) Which could be used to discuss pseudoscience, the philosophy of science, the creation vs evolution debate, its sociological and political implications, and so forth. Once the creationism/evolution debate dies down, other equally controversial topics will undoubtedly spring up (Jack Sarfatti's theory of supra-luminal communication, psychic phenomena, UFO's, etc, etc). PS: to forestall flames, I am *not* implying that either creationism or evolution are pseudosciences. I'm only attempting to establish a forum for discussing such claims. Doug Moen
