I can't tell you about the FG, but I own two Nikon F2's, with some of
my lenses dating back to 1968.  I do a lot of railroad photography, which
is hard on the equipment (dust, jarring, dropping).  The lenses and the
bodies have both held up beautifully.  Of course, mine aren't Series E
lenses.
