Tom Albrecht wrote that there Adam and Eve had other children besides Cain and Abel. I claimed that Adam and Eve didn't have any daughters, and Tom directed me Genesis 5:4. I must confess my error. I reread chapter 4 before submitting my article but overlooked chapter 5. However, the daughters mentioned in chapter 5 do not appear to have been born yet at the time Cain gets married. Cain has a child in 4:17 and Seth is born to Adam and Eve in 4:25. It seems pretty clear that the former event occurred first. In chapter 5, Adam first has Seth and then has other sons and daughters. Thus I infer that Seth was married before any of these other sons and daughters were born. Kenneth Almquist
