They were not exclusive, or even all that serious, for most of that time, but when the could get together, they did (he hitch- hiked to Connecticut from Indiana (and back) one summer), and they finally got together for more than a month at a time two years ago (they married in June, the summer before last). Take heart. But my own (high school and college) experience has been (predictably) much worse. Bouncing between Indiana and Arizona left three shredded romances, as I moved from IN to AZ to IN to AZ to IN ... each romance lasted about two months after the move. In still another case, a friend of our family and her husband travel a lot, and see each other for about a week per month. They're frustrated with this, but it does keep things happy -- no time for things to get rocky. And they call each other twice a day, when they can (fortunately, they can afford it). They're both pretty independent, and it works quite well for them. So it all depends. -- Allan Pratt ...decvax!ihnp4!iuvax!isrnix!akp
