Misweek, 11/30, p.6. Last month, Greg Leveille, president of Micro-Edge, predicted that IBM will offer the UNIX operating system on its Personal Computer, the Series 1, and the 4300 series. Leveille, quoting sources both within IBM and AT&T, said IBM would make its formal announcement on Dec. 16. Observers say this will "take some of the wind out of AT&T's sails," as divestiture takes place Jan. l. Leveille also said that by 1984, many semiconductor companies will have UNIX versions, that several firms, including WECo, are working on a UNIX chip, and that WECo will be selling 256K RAM chips in 1984.
