San Diego, Computer Center Lines: 11 Last year toward the end of the winter quarter the CS compiler class (200+ students strong, on a machine whose password file had over 2500 entries) drove the load average to over 100 on sdccsu3 (a large 11/780). I suspect it got even higher that that, but I went to bed (this was around 2 am one morning). This year that class is on a new vax 11/750 ALL BY THEMSELVES! Measures are being taken so that a repeat of those load averages will not occur this winter. (Thanks to the 4.2 BSD ipc system!!). Keith Muller UCSD Computer Center
