I object to the style partially because it seems so prevalent. Drawing on the wide experience of the readership, I ask: are there any types of window interfaces which make particularly efficient use of screen space, or use representations with levels of detail intermediate between window and icon? Small windows are a possibility, but not very efficient at reduced size. (ron) -------
