An attempt to do a pack-to-pack copy, with an eye to switching to drive
A and pack UNIXA7 for production use, has failed.  A and UNIXA7 are
working just fine, but dd runs into a read error on our production drive
and pack!  This is, uh, strange.  I will investigate further tomorrow,
but unless something simple can be done about it the pack/drive switch
may have to wait until I get back from Usenix.  Argh.
