Well, I just picked up a SONY WM-10, and must say I'm pleased.
It's about as tiny as they come (just a tad wider than a cassette)
the sound is quite good, and it runs on *one* AA battery (battery life
is about 5-6 hours...) 

Picked it up at a discount store for $75... how could you go wrong?
I believe they manufacture a sister version, the WM-F10 that also
includes an FM tuner...price was much higher though....
