Subject: CD players for cars


The NYTimes for 1/15/84 quotes a Mitsubishi spokesman at last week's CES
on CD players for cars: prototypes are available, but they won't be offered
for cars until they're felt to be widely accepted for homes, which they
are apparently not.  There are also problems with high temperatures and
with making the tracking stable enough.  Take your pick of reasons.
