The only public domain commentary I've seen was in an article by Philip Reagan in the December, 1983 issue of *Data Communications* titled "AT&T, IBM arming for local net war of '84". However, that article pre-dates the official announcement.] ATTENTION AT&T EMPLOYEES (current and former) - DO NOT comment publicly on this unless you know that your information has been approved for public release!!! Reaction to AT&T's "quiet" introduction last month of Datakit VCS has caused reactions ranging from "enthusiatic to mystified." Some call the product, which can allow terminals and computers of different protocols to communicate over a private line network, "a significant development," while others cannot make "heads or tails" of it. One analyst suspects that AT&T will have future product announcements that will expand on the Datakit's capabilities.
