Orwell couldn't have said it better.

[Its a fine condition we're in when its more important to have a piece
of {paper|plastic} than to be real.  Maybe its the plastic people who
don't feel at home unless they are neatly pigeonholed.

We don't gotta show you no stinking badges....

Corporate id badges worn while at lunch off company premises:  "You can
