He installed air injection and spark plugs at the tailpipes, which then served as afterburners on demand. It didn't add much to his thrust, but did a good job on any cars that were too close behind. He said the flames were nearly invisible in sunlight, but would strip paint for ten or fifteen feet. Not bad, eh?
