Worse than a tailgater is a driver who forces others to tailgate! I have noticed that around Chicago - where drivers are actually tolerant of 2 mile traffic jams on 2 lane roads and 1 mile lines of cars waiting to pay toll! - that people often pull out in front of you and expect you to stop or slow down for them. This comes from the equally bad habit of always letting people in on X-ways (expressways, or freeways for you west coasters). Granted, in some states, when traffic is busy you just can't get off the ramp and on the freeway, but that's life. Letting a car get on the expressway by BRAKING just isn't smart when there is heavy traffic. Every time I drive down the street, highway, or expressway, I am reminded that 1 out of 3 drivers really doesn't know how to drive. Carl W. Amport Naperville, IL.
