At first glance it looks convincing, but if you look at the actual changes involved you see that they are too small to be significant. When these laws in Morton Grove and Kennesaw first came out I was heavily into notes on the PLATO system here at Illinois. It was pointed out that for the first three months or so the change in crime statistics in the two cities tended to *support* Kennesaw -- the opposite of the results quoted by the Tribune. [No, I don't have a reference to back this up -- take it or leave it, I don't care.] After considerable discussion, the consensus was that those changes were insignificant too. It's worth noting that the Kennesaw law is symbolic only; those who object to having a gun on religious grounds, or whatever, don't have to.
