Not that this is news, but everyone who believes that polluting air is an inhumane and morally punishable offense should do something about it. One thing you can do is support GASP, Group to Alleviate Smoking Pollution. I belong to the Colorado group, which has over 1000 members, not all of them in CO. The address: GASP of Colorado, 12568 Maria Circle, Broomfield, CO 80020, (303) 466-1294. Dues are $10./yr, and some of the benefits are a monthly newsletter that keeps track of some of the progress being made for non-smokers rights across the country, guides to various business establishments that either prohibit smoking or have non-smoking areas, such as restaurants, beauty parlors, and (I think) supermarkets; and a lobby at the state and local level for CO. California has a similar organization, whose name escapes me at the moment, and other states have GASP organizations. Did you know that Minnesota has had a state law prohibiting smoking in public or at least state workplaces for several years? GASP also can serve as a source of information for people who want to explore non-smoking plans for the workplace, or to find out what the legal climate is like in case of an impending legal battle. Enuf said, don't just bitch, try to make a difference!! We can do it. Mary Sue Rowan hpfcla!marysue
