In Ontario, there is a fine (I think $28) for anyone who is not
wearing a seatbelt, whether in the front or the back of a car,
if the car is equipped with them (and newer cars must be). The
interesting point is who is legally responsible for the fine.
If the offender is under 16, the driver is responsible, but if
the offender is over 16, the offender is responsible. So I am not
obliged to make you put your belt on, unless you are under 16.
(I don't remember which way 16-year-olds are counted).
