As the previous writer said, the problem is that monsters get intrinsically more dangerous as you get deeper. As we went past level 50, for example (by this time strength was up to the max and uncheated weapon level was at +14,+8), even snakes were formidable monsters... and this is against AC -13 or so. Hence polymorphing becomes less valuable. We made it down to level 62 before getting Wormed. So, the challenge is this: how do you equip an adventurer to get as deep as possible?
