   Anyone out there know of any good fiction/non-fiction novel/short story
   that would be informative and interesting to junior high school students
   as a follow up to the movie "The Day After"

"Hiroshima" by John Hershey - a small but effective book;
should be available at any library.  Also, try listening
to the lyrics of "The Sun Is Burning", by Simon and Garfunkel.
