Another example of accidental computer intelligence was encountered by
a friend of mine some years ago when using the OS/360 linking loader.  
When this loader found undefined references it would not abort, but go
ahead and construct the output load module anyway.  It would, of course,
tell you as it was doing so.  With a little bit of prompting, it was easily
led to report
