YASDS (Yet Another Shaggy Dog Story)

    One fine morning, a certain elephant was really feeling great.
During his morning constitutional, he chanced upon a lion, the
King of Beasts.  The elephant trumpeted, lifted the lion high
in the air with his trunk, and smashed him to the ground.  He
then asked the lion, "Why aren't you as big and strong as I?"
The lion replied, "I don't know", and slunk away.

    Next, he met a panther.  Holding the panther down with
one foot, the elephant asked again, "Why aren't you as big and
strong as I?"  The panther replied, "I don't know", and slunk
away.

    Now, the elephant met a small mouse with a runny nose.  The
elephant trumpeted and roared, "Why aren't you as big and strong
as I?"  The mouse replied, "I've got a cold."
