This may not be a "joke", but it is amusing and absolutely TRUE!

A few years ago, a gentleman was hired by Tektronix and started
working in my group.  Sometime during his first week, I talked
to him about how he happened to come to Tektronix and Portland,
Oregon.

The man explained that he had worked in a large company on the
East Coast and always wanted to live in the Northwest.  So, he
came to Portland to interview with an employer (whose name will
remain anonymus).  This employer decided to hire him and sent
him enough money to relocate from the East Coast to Portland.

When the gentleman reported for his first day at work, he was
informed that he had been laid-off!!!  He immediately went to
Tektronix, was hired and started the next week.
