That phrase means, for you who haven't studied Latin, "tongue (language) of the Franks." Thus English is the French of the net. (Which just shows how worthwhile the argument is.) Please, if you do post entries with phrases not in English, include a translation. Its just necessary courtesy if you intend to be humorous and not just impress people with your linguistic abilities. English is the lingua franca of the North American (and presumably Australian) USENET, but is it in Europe?
