Center, Univ. of Texas at Austin Lines: 14 Ok, now just wait. I can take a joke, even one about Texas and Texans. Some of the best jokes I know are Texans (they live in College Station)! I even liked the belt joke. But as for the Cowboys, we did NOT ask to be referred to as "America's Team" nor did we start the nickname ourselves. Some moron play-by-play or color announcer crowned us (more accurately knocked us over the crown) with that one. I didn't like it at the time, and I still don't. I can't claim to speak for the organization itself or many of the fans, but I can tell you that the fans I know dislike the nickname and try to disown it. Everybody else has got their own team, why should we share ours anyway?? (of course, this year we couldn't give them away, but that's beside the point!). This just shows how the media can make a nickname stick. -king (...seismo!ut-sally!ut-ngp!ables)
