In my (personal!) experience, old Tab used to do the same thing, while (sugared) Coke was much less "active". Both are MUCH more active than coffee or tea. Beer is smoewhere in between. Perhaps it has to do with the ion balance, phosphoric acid being a major "flavor" component and all, and with the lack of sugar to balance osmotic pressure. ????????
