I have a friend who is interested in a general accounting system
(including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger,
and payroll) for a small-to-medium sized business.  He is particuarly
interested in sales order entry, invoicing, and inventory.

He prefers a UNIX system running on a 68000 or 8086.  He doesn't have
the machine yet and feels it may be a matter of finding a system and
then buying the appropriate machine for it to run on.

This is not an area I know much about, so I am passing the request
along to the net in general.  Does anyone know of / have experience
with a system / package / machine he should consider?  Among other
things, he would like to know the price and history of the package.

Send replies to me and, if there is enough interest, I will summarize
the results to the net.
