The amount of noise, which was intolerable, can almost be nullified by grounding the "AUDIO IN" jack. This is also true to a lesser extent if you are only using the eight-pin jack for sound. The "HES Sound Box" simply brings out the VIDEO OUT, AUDIO OUT, and AUDIO IN from the eight-pin connector on the back of the Commodore 64 to three separate RCA-type jacks.
